Alessandro Speciale (1991) is an Italian composer, orchestrator and score preparator, specialized in music for visual media.
He developed an early allure for music and musical creativity at the age of four, as he used to plunk away on his grandmother’s old upright piano.
A visceral fascination for symphonic music followed later in high school, when he started performing as a keyboard player in some symphonic metal bands.
After the high school, Alessandro decided to embark a brave journey as a professional musician. The purpose of his three-year self-taught course of study was to acquire a proficiency in orchestration and film music composition by analyzing scores and trying to apply the rules to an original work. This led to some unexpected results, both educationally (e.g. his admission to Berklee College of Music - SMPTV MMus program and to Film Scoring Academy of Europe - Film Scoring MFA) and professionally.
Professional achievements include: his original score for the experimental short “Enif Al”, written and directed by renowned director of photography Daniele Ciprí; his work as an additional music composer for the Canadian animated tv show - and the homonymous feature film - “Rocket Club”; and his major project so far, his work in the capacity of additional music composer, orchestrator, score preparator and score supervisor in the recording sessions for the Canadian animated feature film “Charlie The Wonderdog” (to be released January 2026).
Over the last five years, Alessandro was also selected among the finalists or as the winner in multiple international film music competitions.
Alessandro is currently focused on developing a personal musical language, in which elements of the old-fashioned film music will connect with modern/contemporary composition in a fresh, original way.
