Alexander Fuerst

I’m a cinematographer and director of photography with more than two decades of experience in narrative film, commercial, and documentary work. My focus is creating cinematic images that serve story and character—visuals that feel honest, textured, and emotionally grounded.

My narrative projects include Somewhere Confidential, Shelter, and Out of View, where I’ve developed a style defined by motivated lighting, restrained camera movement, and careful composition. I was honored with Best Cinematography recognition for Somewhere Confidential, a film that reflects my love for timeless storytelling built through light and design.

In my commercial and branded work, I create imagery that feels cinematic while serving the brand’s message. From Nike campaigns to Portland Pet Food Company spots, I focus on clean compositions, precise lighting, and a strong sense of color that makes every frame intentional. My approach is the same as narrative—motivated lighting, thoughtful lensing, and design-driven visuals that bring authenticity to polished campaigns. Whether it’s a tabletop shoot, a lifestyle vignette, or a large-scale branded campaign for clients like META and Patrón, I aim for imagery that’s bold, cinematic, and built to connect with an audience.

I trained under members of the American Society of Cinematographers (A.S.C.), these experiences have shaped my technical foundation and deepened my respect for visual storytelling. Those mentorships still influences how I approach every frame—with precision, collaboration, and purpose.

Based in Portland, Oregon, and working internationally, I collaborate with directors, producers, and agencies to bring narrative and branded stories to life with cinematic impact and emotional clarity.
