I'm Ana Margú, an illustrator and writer from Madrid, Spain with a long track record illustrating projects aimed at children and young people, many of them have been published since 2014. My work ranges from adult and children's books to other projects / commissions from both public entities and particular individuals. Recently, Cartas a las Olas ('Letters to the waves') won the 3rd Elia Barceló International Fantasy & Science Fiction Illustrated Picture Book Award (2024). As I´m deeply in love with the ocean, I´m always eager to exploring how art can inspire environmental awareness and social reflection. That is why after years of research work on the different aspects of environmental sustainability and how to translate environmental prevention into a children's story, so that children can learn tools and strategies to anticipate damage to the environment, I wrote and illustrated The Snail Queen, which was published succesfully published in 2020. It has also be subject to a number of workshops based on storytelling and drawing where many children have activately participated. As you can see in my portfolio, a large part of my illustrated projects include aspects related to the natural environment and more specifically, the ocean and its inhabitants.
