Experienced gym instructor Sam Johnson gives a friendly, informative look into gym culture. Produced by Autek as part of Energise Me’s Hampshire Active Health program. Co-directed with Southampton based video producer Shannon R. Hammond and selected for screening at Southampton Film Week’s Short Story Cinema 2 event in November 2024.
A short film based on my experience with epilepsy and its impact on my mental wellbeing, primarily focusing on a seizure I had at a gym in 2021 and the noble actions of those who witnessed it. Part of Autek’s documentary and film compilation What’s My Anxiety. Made as part of the documentary but also to use an an individual video to promote epilepsy awareness.
An episode of Nutkhut’s Hidden Histories series focusing on the fate of St. George’s Garrison Church during World War II and its redevelopment into a memorial. Featuring Joanna Lumley and Ajay Chaabra and made during my time working for Solent University’s film crew, edited within their professional editing suites alongside other staff members.
Tim Maurice-Jones outlines his experience working as a cinematographer over the years and shares his thoughts on shooting with both traditional film and digital cameras. Made as a practical coursework assignment during my first year at Solent University before my departure, achieving the second highest possible grade and being considered one of the best ever entries for that assignment in the course’s history. It has since been shown to new students on the course, highlighted as a good example of how to make the assignment. A valiant team effort from all those involved.
A passion project to practice my first time using a newly purchased Canon DSLR and RODE Stereo Videomic Pro, with a short story revolving around how artistic hobbies can brighten up our daily lives when the chance comes to embrace them. Pablo Picasso’s renowned quote, shown at the very end, sums it all up in a nutshell. The video depicts various artistic hobbies of mine including railway modelling, drawing and photography.
A no budget horror drama I created in 2014 (additional editing in 2016) featuring a young man who befriends a loner in the local common of his new hometown following his father’s passing, but the events that follow only make him realise the gravity of his mistake. A runner-up for selection in the 2016 British Horror Film Festival, and watched by actor/comedian Tom Rosenthal in 2021, who considered it “an insane achievement”. By far my favourite of my passion projects; I’d do a few things differently if making it again a decade later, but I’m still proud of the outcome considering its budget was literally nothing whatsoever. Selected for screening at the Lift-Off Filmmaker Sessions in December 2024.
