Hi there! I am an installation designer, creative director and 3D animator, as well as a practicing artist. That said, my roles, interests and tools are constantly evolving to meet the moment and task at hand. And "what I do" becomes a more layered and interesting Venn diagram with each project I embark upon. Over the course of my career, I have worked on campaigns for top advertising agencies and collaborated extensively with other fine artists, educators and members of the medical community. And in my art practice, my work primarily revolves around social, racial and climate justice issues and dialogues. My approach is one of visual simplicity - distilling an often complex message or brief down to its essential and most compelling elements. I believe that focused direction coupled with strong design has the ability to communicate universally. Let's connect. Let's chat. Let's create!

    uniE608 Demo Reel 2023
The following is a sampling of recent work spanning a number of different fields and utilizing a variety of tools. Keep in mind that this is only a sampling of work. If there is a particular style or subject matter you’re interested in pursuing that you don’t see here, then please feel free to contact me. I’m happy to discuss!
    uniE608 Electric Projected
This piece was developed for Electric Projected, an exhibition consisting of 24 animations inspired by works of art installed in the windows of what was once an electric blanket factory. Based on the selected artwork, the piece begins with the basic mechanics of graffiti creation minus the creator, who is often unseen or unidentifiable as the work is produced. It then proceeds to the point at which the work receives an audience. Finally, the projection closes with the graffiti artist receiving recognition and, in some cases, notoriety for their work. And as much graffiti lacks permanence, the work disappears and the cycle potentially continues.
uniE608 TINE: Tolerance Is Not Enough
“Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”, as penned by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence, has been interpreted in numerous ways since it’s initial drafting. Some, rather academic. While others see them as very personal words that act as a source of inspiration, a beacon of hope and a driver for perseverance. Often going hand in hand with the idea of “The American Dream”, Jefferson’s words ring truer today than ever before. In a constantly changing, increasingly tumultuous, and infinitely more connected world, the equal application of these tenants to all, regardless of outward differences, is in question. And through improvements in mass communication and technology, these disparities no longer remain isolated and quiet. Never have the words, “The world is watching” been more true. In the presented piece TINE (Tolerance Is Not Enough), viewers are reminded that even though we are a collection of individuals from different geographies, backgrounds, ethnicities, genders and beliefs - some traveling great distances from life-threatening circumstances - our diversity as a country is our strength. This rising, diverse tide lifts all boats. And tolerance, the ability to endure the existence of opinions or behaviours that one dislikes or disagrees with, is truly not enough. It is only through a willingness to learn and understand the differences of others that we can build the empathy to raise each and every one of us to our highest potential. The anonymous figure in silhouette, poised atop the bow, asks viewers to recall the dreams of their youth and perhaps the pursuits of their own children. She is everyone and anyone in pursuit of their own sense of life, liberty and true happiness. TINE: Tolerance Is Not Enough, was an augmented reality (AR) piece created for the By The People festival (Washington DC, June 21-24) in collaboration with ARTECHOUSE and Halcyon. TINE was experienced in front of the Washington DC National Cathedral (2018) and on the banks of the Potomac River (2019).
    uniE621 Cloudnet
CLOUDNET is an interactive light and sound sculpture that is activated by the dynamic movement of observers and passersby. The initial impetus for the creation of CLOUDNET was to bring attention to ‘ghost fishing’ – the phenomenon where lost, dumped or abandoned fishing gear continues to ensnare fish or marine organisms. To highlight this crisis, CLOUDNET utilizes the non-traditional media of reclaimed monofilament fish netting, recovered from the Andalusian region of Spain. This material’s inherent properties naturally act as a light conduit, passing the pulses of light activated within CLOUDNET outward, illuminating the entire 5’ x 2’ x 3’ volume of the sculpture with a vibrant energy able to be seen and felt by all. And as thunderous booms emanate from its core, for a moment, participants can experience on a small scale what it’s like to control the uncontrollable. Franklin endeavored to capture and harness the power of electricity. CLOUDNET imagines what it feels like to create it. Since its initial installation, CLOUDNET has traveled to multiple locations and continues to engage and educate its viewers.
    uniE621 Apple Watch Series 8 - Sensors
This is a a product render highlighting the sensors of the Apple Watch Series 8. Staged in 3DS Max and render using Corona. Post compositing done in Adobe After Effects.
    uniE621 WAVE
WAVE honors the rich history of those piers that helped transform the City of New York into the thriving metropolis and desired destination it is today, while simultaneously seeking to track the ever shifting affects of climate change. Harnessing the wake of traveling vessels up and down the waterway, WAVE reconstructs Pier 56 with brilliantly expansive vertically projected beams of light; their dynamic patterns evoking a sense of history, beauty and wonder. As ships of the Hudson River’s historic past engaged and activated the piers along Manhattan’s West Side, these maritime monoliths of wood and steel became an integral driving force in the city’s economy. WAVE invites the public into a moment of history and simultaneously, into a skyward sense of the future. Utilizing Pier 56’s remaining pile field, ultrasonic sensor-controlled, energy-efficient LED fixtures are evenly leveled and mounted to these structures in a 5×25 grid. As its title suggests, WAVE’s primary method of activation is wave generated. As the wake from passing vessels travels through the pier’s underlying structure, the sensors are triggered and the light is activated. Secondarily, if waves are not at a level high enough to activate the sensors then WAVE is activated by the public via a touch-based kiosk located at a vantage point where the piece can clearly be seen and appreciated. Lastly, when both the wave and public generated methods are inactive, WAVE’s tertiary activation method is artist generated, using an open source programming language to display complex and dynamic patterns of light. For the climate component, WAVE’s sensors remain active 24 hours a day. So, not only are they detecting maritime activity, but they are intermittently measuring the Hudson River’s overall level day and night. And when these surrounding water levels are measured, that information is then recorded, cataloged and made openly available for climate research initiatives. As the effects of climate change become undeniably apparent with each passing day, this type of information will become more and more crucial to addressing it head on.
    uniE621 Intrauterine Device
This is a product shot of a recently launched intrauterine device (IUD). I was tasked with matching the physical device in 3D. Once this was achieved, it was used in a larger instructional animation.
    uniE621 Tcell SEM
This is a 3D representation of a T cell rendered in the visual style of a scanning electron microscope (SEM). It was modeled in Maya and Zbrush, rendered using Mental Ray, and composited in Photoshop.
    uniE608 Bull Market
This is a concept created for the Amsterdam Light Festival that connects the devastating phenomenon of climate change to global financial markets. Energy efficient LED lighting and neon highlight steadily rising sea levels over the last 30 years using NASA satellite data. And it calls on these CO2 producing industries driving global economies and global warming to put planet over profit.
