    Safe Place

The project explores how visual communication can support people struggling with low self-esteem. Drawing from personal experience and academic research, the goal was to design a concept that uses metacognitive psychology to inspire positive self-reflection and emotional change, especially for those who find it difficult to set boundaries or value themselves. Rather than aiming to “fix” mental health, the goal was to raise awareness and provide supportive, motivational input around the topic of self-worth.

    YMT vol.5

YMT is an experimental publication about visual communication design, produced by second-year bachelor students at the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design (KMD), University of Bergen. It explores how editorial design and publishing methods can enhance the way we communicate content.

The publication is both a limited-edition printed magazine and a digital experience, featuring original work by students in the course Editorial Design & Visual Identity. The course introduces design authorship, editorial direction, and visual storytelling—encouraging autonomy through concept development and self-initiated content.

YMT vol. 5 was published in Spring 2023, and was later nominated for the Visuelt Awards 2024 and awarded Gold in Design at Gullkalven 2024.
