I’m ANZURUKU JACOB, a full-stack developer building offline-first and low-bandwidth products for emerging markets, where connectivity and device limitations are real daily constraints. I’ve learned that through volunteering as a teacher in Nimule, South Sudan, where the lack of accessible digital learning resources pushed me to create Sudd Library and later expand the same offline-first approach into local commerce with SokoNort.

I enjoy turning complex constraints into reliable, user-friendly systems—from architecture and testing to deployment on platforms like Firebase and Cloudflare. I also use AI-assisted development to move quickly while I stay responsible for quality through hands-on QA, verification, and careful iteration, and I’m currently completing my Computer Science degree to strengthen the fundamentals behind that process.

Sudd Library is an open-access, offline-first educational platform I built after volunteering as a teacher in Nimule, South Sudan, and seeing how few digital resources existed there for the national curriculum.
The problem: Schools were relying on Ugandan and Kenyan materials because South Sudanese curriculum content wasn’t easily accessible digitally.
What I built: A lightweight, offline-first web platform (built with Astro) that stays usable in low-bandwidth environments — structured and indexed lesson notes, schemes of work, and learning resources across subjects and grade levels.
SEO & discoverability: Built with Astro’s static-site generation for fast load times and clean, crawlable HTML — critical for reaching users on slow or expensive mobile data. Integrated Pagefind for fast, client-side full-text search across all resources without a backend. Site is indexed and monitored through Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, with semantic HTML and structured content pages supporting organic discovery by students and educators searching for South Sudanese curriculum materials by subject, grade, and topic — a gap in existing search results.
Status: Live and actively serving students and educators.

SokoNort

Https://SokoNort.wep.app A full-stack marketplace and delivery platform built for Adjumani District, Uganda — live on the web, in pre-launch ahead of public rollout. Architecture: React 18 + Vite SPA, PWA with offline-first design and service worker caching. MVVM pattern using custom hooks as ViewModels (e.g. useCheckoutViewModel). Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Hosting) backend with Node.js/Express, plus Cloudflare Workers and R2 (S3-compatible) for image storage. Auth & security: Firebase Auth (Phone/OTP, Email/Password, Anonymous) with JWT verification and role-based access control across 4 tiers (Customer, Vendor, Commercial Partner, Admin), backed by 260+ lines of Firestore security rules. App Check with reCAPTCHA v3. Token-bucket rate limiting on sensitive endpoints. Payments: Multi-provider Mobile Money integration (MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, Relworx, Flutterwave, Beyonic, Yo! Payments) via USSD push, with webhook-based payment confirmation and reconciliation, plus cash-on-delivery. AI integration: In-app customer care agent via an LLM gateway (Gemini, OpenRouter) using a circuit-breaker pattern that falls back to a local rule-based engine during API disruptions. Notifications: Dual-channel order updates — push notifications (in-app, real-time) and SMS via Africa's Talking (reaches customers without the app installed). Tailwind CSS, mobile-first, dark/light theming, optimistic UI updates on cart and order state.
