Delivering While Black is a compelling short documentary that explores birth justice in America through a deeply local lens in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Centering the lived experiences of Black women and the insights of maternal health advocates and clinicians, the film reveals how systemic racism and bias in healthcare contribute to stark and often devastating disparities in maternal outcomes.
Through intimate personal testimonies and expert perspectives, Delivering While Black creates space for audiences to confront how inequity shapes who is heard, protected, and ultimately survives childbirth. By weaving together local and national data, the film highlights the urgent need for awareness, accountability, and change.
At its core, the documentary is both a call to action and a space for reflection inviting audiences to engage in honest dialogue about safety, dignity, and justice in childbirth, while amplifying voices too often left unheard.
