Emerging composer Isabella Tate has recently completed her honours year of her Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium. Isabella’s passion for music began at the age of seven when she started playing the violin. Her love for music quickly grew as she picked up the flute and later piano, playing in many of her school’s ensembles which participated in the Queensland Youth Music Awards (2018) and the Australian Acapella Awards (2019). Isabella soon discovered her adoration for composing after hearing and studying the works of renowned composers such as Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and Joe Hisaishi. Isabella began her journey in the composing scene in 2021, when she started studying at the Queensland Conservatorium. Throughout her studies, Isabella has discovered her own personal style of music. She loves writing pieces that have stories or meaning behind them and favours chamber music. Isabella has had several of her compositions performed by fellow musicians in concerts at the Conservatorium and has scored a couple of short films for the Swinburne University of Technology. She was also named a finalist in the Australian Women’s Windband Competition 2023.
