nspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion and what Anime means for people who have too many problems to stay alive and continue with life.

This collection is inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion. Specially taken the unit Eva 002 in his beast mode. Evangelion features a number of elements familiar to anime fans, most notably teenagers piloting giant robots to fight monsters, but from the beginning, something is different. The robots are fleshy, angular creatures, and the opposing monsters, called Angels, are often abstract and strange. Rather than being a hot-blooded anime protagonist in the tradition of Dragon Ball’s Goku, Evangelion’s Shinji Ikari is a withdrawn, depressive teen trying to connect with his distant and commanding father. The people around him, from his guardian Misato to his fellow Eva pilots Asuka and Rei, are revealed to be just as flawed, which many have interpreted as a reflection of the fact that creator Hideaki Anno wrote Evangelion as a meditation on his experiences with depression.

Many have credited Evangelion’s massive success with revitalizing the anime industry as a whole. Anime had been struggling following the 1980s Japanese economic crash, with production decreasing, and most projects being either lengthy franchises aimed at children or limited-run VHS series targeting hardcore fans or otaku. Evangelion showed that a project could be deeply personal, beloved among otaku, and still be very profitable

Genome editing has elicited considerable debate alongside its promise, primarily due to inherent safety concerns and ethical implications. The manipulation of a cell’s DNA through cutting and repair mechanisms is not without potential hazards; errors during this process could exacerbate rather than alleviate disease states. Furthermore, genome editing in germline cells, such as sperm or ova, raises the prospect of heritable genetic modifications, potentially transmitting deleterious mutations to subsequent generations. The implementation of gene drive technology carries the risk of unforeseen ecological consequences, potential misuse for harmful purposes, or unexpected genetic mutations. Finally, while not currently feasible, the development of genetically selective biological agents targeting individuals or populations with specific genetic traits, or conversely, the facilitation of widespread personalized medicine based on genomic sequencing, remains a potential, albeit concerning, future possibility.

Curious and Strange Observations that I usually saw in my Self-Life-Story.

The central tenet of this collection, which I have conceived as a “freak show,” is to articulate and celebrate the inherent singularity that resides within each individual’s perception and identity.
During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, “freak shows” were an accepted facet of American popular culture. These exhibitions were regarded as suitable entertainment for the middle class and proved financially lucrative for showmen, who, regrettably, often exploited the disabilities of the performers for personal gain.
In this context, I propose a reflexive approach: to engage with the notion of our own perceived “freakishness” and to valorize the very differences that distinguish us. This collection seeks to subvert the historical exploitation of such exhibitions by transforming the concept into a celebration of individual uniqueness and the diverse tapestry of human identity.

The “飞天” collection’s conceptual framework is manifested in the silhouette of each garment, drawing inspiration from the Hanfu of the Han dynasty while also incorporating elements from the history of denim, such as the iconic baggy jean. The selection of fabric, in this instance denim, is a deliberate detail. It is pertinent to acknowledge China’s significant contribution to the environmental challenges posed by the textile industry.

The “飞天” collection extends beyond cultural celebration, aiming to address historical complexities. The Hanfu, initially gender-neutral yet socially stratified, has largely become genderless over time. This contrasts with apsaras, celestial beings without gender, age, or social class, who tested human resilience. Mental well-being is akin to an apsara: inherently valuable and protective, while also presenting significant challenges to our strength.
Ultimately, the “飞天” collection stands as a proposition to focus on issues of universal concern.
