Hi, I’m Hannah. I’m a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington with a Bachelor of Design Innovation majoring in Communication Design and minoring in French. These disciplines are dissimilar in practice but linked through communication. Creating connections between people and outputs for diverse audiences is what motivates me.
I do not confine myself to my areas of study and I’m interested in a range of typologies including identity, print, packaging, fashion and motion design, typography, illustration and language.
I am passionate about illustration, drawing and painting and love to incorporate these analogue mediums into digital graphic design outputs.
As a designer, my ultimate goal is to better people and the planet. The four values that I hold within my practice are Whanaungatanga, considered design empathy, form and function and sustainability. This means actively and evaluatively using empathy as a tool to guide my design process if it is appropriate to do so. Secondly, focusing on a design’s function and finding ways that its form can make it even more successful. Finally, taking advantage of collaboration while also actively striving for sustainability so that it becomes an automatic practice. Although my area of focus is communication design I strive to be a well-rounded and interdisciplinary designer.
Outside of design, you’ll usually find me spending time with friends, getting coffee with my sister, out for a run or listening to music.
