Carolyn London is a writer and filmmaker whose work blends sharp humor with character-driven storytelling across film, theater, animation, marketing and creative direction. Her animated short 1981 was an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival, continuing a career recognized for distinctive writing and comedic voice. London’s scripts frequently explore cultural identity, outsider communities, and moments of social transition. Her earlier animated films—including Highway of Hell, A Letter to Colleen, and Subway Salvation—have received honors from festivals such as ASIFA-East, Ottawa, Florida Film Festival and the New York Television Festival, with multiple awards specifically recognizing excellence in writing and humor.
In addition to filmmaking, London is an accomplished playwright whose stage work includes Underworld, The Eviction, and Visiting Hours, and she is a former lab member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre. Her storytelling moves fluidly between media, from narrative film to gallery installations, including works exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art and the New York Transit Museum. Through London Squared Productions, she continues to develop original scripted projects for television, film, and emerging media, building richly drawn story worlds rooted in voice-driven writing.
