Hello, I am Charon Chong (legal name Charmaine Chong). I am an independent animation director, as well as an animator, illustrator and amateur musician. My work is focused on mental/physical health and less talked-about societal issues. One of my films, Golden Child, has won an Audience Choice Award in the September edition of First-Time Filmmaker Sessions 2024. I am experienced in 2D animation and direction due to multiple internships in the past, as well as through making my own short films. I am very spontaneous and adapt to new situations quickly. I view challenges I face as a chance to think and work creatively. I am resilient and put my heart into my work to get the best result I can achieve in a practical amount of time. I work very quickly, having finished my final year project, a 13-minute-long animated film titled <Dance Again>, almost completely alone (apart from choreography and voice acting). I recently graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore with a First Class Honours Bachelor’s degree, as well as received the LASALLE Award for Academic Excellence by attaining the highest grade in my faculty (Puttnam School of Film and Animation) for AY2024/2025.

A young boy is bitten by his rabid house dog, but his mother does nothing but rub ointment on his bite wound; even when symptoms of rabies appear. As she rubs, the disheveled bedroom floods with water. The mother thinks about calling the doctor, but ultimately does not in fear of troubling them.

Her negligence eventually leads to the walls bursting and causing her son immense pain; but while feeling guilty, she never fully realises what harm her fear of losing face has done to her son.
