    The Way Home

Inspired by the prevalence of stressful working environment in my home country, I want to show the negative emotions of someone struggling from overloaded stress with this animation. I aim to depict the way home in rain as the straw that broke the camel’s back in the protagonist’s life. To show their feelings directly, I distorted their body more and more as their stress grow. I used messy lines and a ghostlike texture to form the distorted body to show the dehumanization and the loss of self caused by this feeling. I also had an experimental take on the background, shifting it from scenes of reality into ghostlike characters and finally geometric shape, aiming to fully let the viewer emerge into the mental state of the main character.

    One Shot!

The lizard puts on a great fight to save the rabbit. At the last minute, the rabbit returns the favor by knocking down the enemy just in time. The big reversal is arranged at the end of the story where it is revealed that the intense battle was actually just within the tabletop game that the 3 friends are playing together.
The inspiration of this piece comes from my experience of playing tabletop games. By telling the story about a fight within as well as outside of the game, I aim to depict the intense and complex inner world of the game and the players’ experiences in a fun and vivid way.

    The Escape

I was inspired by the awkward experience many people shared—not being able to directly say no to unwanted requests or favors. For introverts, it is even harder to be in this situation.
Through this piece, I aim to express this problem and my personal take on it in a whimsical way. I want to show this mental journey by depicting troubling experiences as physical (and magical) obstacles.
I would like to show that sometimes it is important to speak up and say “No” to things you don’t want. This could apply to being advertised or any other situation that one is forced into. It is important to let other people know your feelings and stance directly.
