I was shaped by an organ and a church choir. Raised on the Beatles Brunch Sunday radio program before and after church. Born again with the discovery of Michael Jackson's Thriller, I fell in love with sound as a child. Not just music, but sound. From Vincent Price to James Earl Jones with all the Bing Crosby in-between. A dinosaur's roar starring the scream of a baby elephant, or starving a hungry bear until it moans like a Wookiee — layers on layers of audio lasagna spilling onto a canvas in a collage of susceptible soundscape. Sound lights up my imagination and I always find a way to bring it into a tangible existence. I’ve built a career around those impulses: five years as an Audio Engineer at Sheffield Audio/Video, where SSL consoles and Neumann microphones were my toys, doing recording, mixing, teaching classes, and running the Intern Program. I’ve contracted with Radiolab to complete The Etherist, writing the theme song, reprises, and soundscapes, plus sound design and foley, editing and mixing. As a musician, bassist and guitarist with ASCAP-registered songwriting, I’ve spent twenty years touring with various acts and collaborating with professional crews and engineers, sharing stages and studios with legendary figures. All of it feeds an immersive, tangible approach to every project I touch.
