"The Old Ones" - Getting Set Free
As the Music Assistant & Assistant Composer to famed horror film composer Richard Band, I was assigned to compose additional cues on this horror movie for which he was the principle composer. The cue presents how treachery is dealt with among the bad guys. The force that possessed the innocent man is removed from the man and is dealt with harshly. The disciples of the possessing force are horrified and are given new tasks to follow by the higher power. The music returns to a similar "battle of wills" approach as heard in the cue where the innocent man gets possessed initially but this time its a battle between the higher powers and the dark force.…As the Music Assistant & Assistant Composer to famed horror film composer Richard Band, I was assigned to compose additional cues on this horror movie for which he was the principle composer. As the Music Assistant & Assistant Composer to famed horror film composer Richard Band, I was assigned to compose additional cues on this horror movie for which he was the principle composer. The cue continues the fight from previous cue as it moves from inside to outside and eventually has the good guys escaping. The more traditional uses of the orchestra are prominent as the good guys are winning in the scene and the otherworldly material starts to retreat, much like the bad guys are forced to retreat.…As the Music Assistant & Assistant Composer to famed horror film composer Richard Band, I was assigned to compose additional cues on this horror movie for which he was the principle composer. The cue continues the fight from previous cue as it moves from inside to outside and eventually has the good guys escaping. The cue continues the darker material into something bigger, chaotic and more action packed as the good guys and the bad guys have their first real battle. This pulls out all the stops with instrumentation and scope of the sonic soundscape - transitioning back and forth from otherworldly material to traditional earthly uses of the orchestra. As the Music Assistant & Assistant Composer to famed horror film composer Richard Band, I was assigned to compose additional cues on this horror movie for which he was the principle composer. The music reflects this battle of wills through the layering and layering of stingers, hits, pounding percussion, string effects, and dissonance with a single brass line cutting through it all that represents the innocent man's struggle to not get possessed. It is part of my ongoing series of concept soundtrack albums (that I create under my indie artist name D4Disgruntled) in which I rescore an entire movie - specifically horror and sci-fi - as though I was the original composer hired. I do this to demonstrate my capabilities compose music for long-form content.
The movie selected here is Pumpkinhead. This cue presents the last remaining survivors of the group accused of killing the father's son. However, by this point in the story, the father, after seeing the aftermath of those Pumpkinhead has killed, he has remorse and regret for what has has done. In this moment, he locates the survivors and tries to intervene. The music has elevated to full on primal energy with whaling brass, pounding drums and piano, swirling string figures and otherworldly sounds.…This track is from my album "Horror Re-Scored 4".
