I'm Daniel Lane, a photographer and videographer with over 20 years of experience and a First Class Masters in Photography. I work discreetly and instinctively, building strong relationships with clients and directors to capture compelling product and event imagery. I’m happy to lead projects, embrace challenges, travel, and bring ideas to life from concept to delivery. I've worked with many brands and corporations, including Boots, Valentino, Pret-A-Manger, Gilette, photographing their products and creating engaging visuals. My practice spans studio ecommerce photography, fashion, and documentary-style videography, with a focus on color accuracy, minimizing reflections on musical instruments, and delivering high-resolution results for online and editorial use. I also apply my graphic design background to create cohesive visuals for social media and promotional materials.

Tarisio is the world’s leading auction house for fine and rare stringed instruments and bows. With customers buying online from around the globe, often relying solely on my photos and videos of the instruments, the photography and post-production work must be flawless.

Since 2011, I have photographed all auction and private sale items for Tarisio London, and at times for select auctions in New York and Berlin.

Three short films that take a look at what’s behind the music, how skilled craftspeople and musicians come to work together.

We meet Violin maker Yuki Hori in his Tokyo workshop, Bow maker Kunitaka Ohse at his workshop in Gokayama and finally Violinist Yoko Kubo. Each talk of how their trade and how integral it is to the process to work symbiotically with each other, in pursuit of the highest results possible.

Filming took place in Tokyo and Gokayama, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the west of Japan, working closely alongside Art Director and Script Writer for the project, Kenzo Hiramatsu. Video editing was undertaken back at my London studio.
