Markulic began his journey as a composer around 2010 when his interest was transfixed by the works of Childish Gambino, Funkadelic, Hiatus Kayote, Led Zeppelin and Elton John, among others. Seeking like-minded people, Markulic played in 'Kimono Pool' - a Wollongong based funk band. Soon after, his unsated fascination for music composition took him elsewhere. Encountering the likes of Shostakovich, Andriessen, Davis, Arvo Part & Christian Scott during his time studying Composition at the Australian Institute of Music, Markulic began incorporating his inclination for generative and aleatoric music into works of his own.
