I’m an experienced composer working across a wide range of genres — from film music, classical, and solo piano, through ambient electronic work and experimental post-rock soundscapes, to pop, rock, hip-hop, jazz, and metal. My portfolio includes the score and sound design for the short film Sometimes I Dream in Technicolour, my award-winning trilogy of contemporary piano sonatas, my solo concept album SoundEscapes — which blends pop, rock, hip-hop, and experimental music — and releases with my post-metal band Beatrix, including our most recent EP, Planet Head. The common thread throughout my work is a deep understanding of how music works. I know how slightly re-worked familiarity can completely recontextualise something happening on screen, or how just one shift in rhythm can entirely change the mindset of a listener. Things that many modern composers often overlook – the importance of structure, arrangement and a good mix – are at the core of my work Everything I create is written, performed, recorded, produced, and mixed in my home studio. I play keyboard, guitar, bass, and drums, and have access to an extensive library of professional-grade sounds and plugins. I hold a first-class degree in Music and a Master’s with Distinction in Composition from the University of Surrey. Alongside composing, I’m an active musicologist with a company developing new compositional systems I’ve been writing professionally since my teenage years, developing from reviewing local metal gigs to building a freelance career that spans music, film, business, and culture. I’ve held long-term roles with outlets such as: Prog Magazine (contributing monthly print reviews and interview features), TheMostRadicalist (discovering and spotlighting emerging artists like girl in red and Laufey through early reviews and interviews), Screen Rant (writing entertainment features across film, TV, and gaming) and The Motley Fool (providing investment insights and financial analysis as part of their global team of writers). My freelance work includes bylines in Kerrang!, Total Film, and Business Insider, as well as cover stories for print magazines such as FilmHounds and academic writing in Imperica. Over the years, I’ve become an expert in SEO, with several of my articles reaching readerships in the hundreds of thousands, and have developed strong skills in editing and editorial management. My attention to detail, fast turnaround, and ability to juggle multiple projects are central to my approach.
