Daniela Beracochea

Illustrator and graphic artist. She uses digital and traditional media in her work,
creating expressive, poetic, and visually powerful compositions.

She studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts and later focused her training on illustration and narrative by attending workshops in Montevideo and Buenos Aires.

Driven by her artistic restlessness and exploration, she has delved into various
languages, adapting her work to animation, set design, tattoo art, murals, ceramics,
and textile design.

In the field of editorial illustration, she has illustrated for newspapers, magazines, and
books published in Uruguay, Argentina, and Spain. She has worked with clients such as
Planeta, Penguin, Banda Oriental, Topito Ediciones, Criatura, Revista Lento, Diario
Gigantes, Jacobin Latin America, Diario Tiempo Argentina, Semanario Brecha, Periplo,
the Municipality of Ribadeo, among others. She has participated in over 20 books,
most of them picture books.

For the past 20 years, she has been in charge of art and graphics for the Uruguayan
band Cuatro Pesos de Propina, creating album covers, posters, video clip art, and
visuals, contributing a personal and artistic stamp to the musical interpretation.
Her work has been recognized and exhibited both nationally and internationally. In
Uruguay: In 2025, she was selected by the Cultural Center of Spain in Montevideo to
hold a retrospective exhibition of her work as the graphic artist for Cuatro Pesos de
Propina. Also in 2025, she received an award for her animated short “Querida Vejez” at
the film festival on aging, which took place concurrently in Uruguay, Argentina, Chile,
Peru, Mexico, Brazil, and Spain. She has received mentions on five occasions in the
National Illustration Award from the Ministry of Education and Culture, obtaining a
Special Mention in the 2023 edition. In 2023, she received an Honorable Mention in the
National Crafts Award.
Internationally: She was invited by Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture to exhibit collectively in
2024 and was selected in competitions such as the NAMI Contest in South Korea in
2023, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy in 2021, Città del Sole in Italy in 2016, and the 15th Croatian Biennial of Illustration in 2014.
