Jack Colton - Broken Record - Mix & Master

This project was for a returning client who brought in a beautifully written country track built around a sparse, acoustic arrangement with stomps, claps, and tambourine providing the rhythmic foundation.

While the core production had a strong emotional identity, there was an opportunity to enhance the dynamic movement of the song. To support this, I introduced live drums and bass guitar, helping to create greater contrast between sections and guide the listener through a more engaging emotional arc. This added depth and energy without taking away from the intimacy of the original arrangement.

The source recordings were captured well, which allowed the mixing process to stay focused on refinement rather than correction. I performed some light vocal timing adjustments to tighten key sections, along with subtle pitch correction to ensure consistency while maintaining a natural performance.

The final result is a balanced, dynamic mix that builds naturally, supports the storytelling, and translates well across different listening environments.
