Ed Lima has been composing music for film and games since 1999, debuting with the score to the hit real-time strategy game “Empire Earth” release in 2001 by Stainless Steel Studios and Sierra On-Line. He has since gone on to score games by Electronic Arts, Activision, 2K Games, Deep Silver Volition, along with various independent developers and filmmakers all over the world. Ed’s film scores can be heard in various films and trailers, such as the horror feature “The Black String”, distributed by Lionsgate and starring Frankie Muniz and Oded Fehr, and in various short subjects directed and produced by LA filmmakers Kelly Perrine, Michael Mason, and Bry Thomas Sanders. Ed won a Clio award in 2024 for his sound design as featured in the announcement trailer for “Clockwork Revolution” from XBox Game Studios and Microsoft. In 2005 Ed was nominated for a BAFTA for his score to the horror action game “Doom3” from id Software and Activision.
Ed’s music combines a traditional reverence for melodic and thematic ideas with a contemporary sound that merges elements of electronics, ambient design, world music, and traditional Western instrumentation. This exciting mix of flavors creates a distinct and inimitable sound and style that uniquely defines Ed Lima’s music.
