Evan Grey is a multi-instrumentalist, music director, and aspiring producer hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina. Currently in his senior year at Anderson University in South Carolina, he is completing his Bachelor of Music in Commercial Music. A versatile performer whose primary instrument is guitar, Evan is equally at home on drums and bass, bringing a wide range of musical experience to both live and studio environments. Throughout his time at Anderson University, Evan has built a substantial performance portfolio across the Southeast. He has served as a drummer, bassist, guitarist, and musical director for multiple regional artists and ensembles, including the Sam Godfrey Band, According to Taste, wedding band Blue Ridge Sunset, and CCM group Falling 42. He has also performed as lead guitarist/drummer for the Clemson party scene staple, The Carly Miller Band, and currently plays lead guitar for Hunter Bradley & The Hometown Strangers. In addition to his secular work, Evan has held the position of Worship Coordinator and Music Director at Cornerstone Methodist Church in Powdersville, South Carolina, where he oversaw musical direction, arrangement, and weekly service performance. Evan has also been very involved with several other local churches, like Brookwood, Foothills, Covenant Baptist, Southside Baptist, Upstate Church Anderson, and a continually growing list. Evan’s ensemble work within Anderson University is extensive, reflecting his stylistic flexibility and leadership ability. He has been a member of the Anderson Worship Collective, AU Praise Band, AU Night Band, Classical Guitar Ensemble, and multiple commercial ensembles under Tim Blackwell and Greg Alewine's ensemble programs. His performances have been featured at major university events such as the City of Anderson Soirée (2023–2026), Lights of Hope (2022 & 2024), Anderson University First Night (2024 & 2025), the President’s Gala (2024 & 2026), and several appearances at the SCBC Onward Conference. Evan has also earned a spot in AUthenticity, Anderson University Premier Scholarship Commercial Music Ensemble. Beyond live performance, Evan has been active in recording and session work since his young teen years, playing in punk rock and metal groups in his hometown with significantly older musicians. He has contributed to numerous projects in the past few months, including "Haunted" by Frances Reid-Twomey (2025), "North to South" by classmate Josh Sewak (2025), and the "Ride Along" EP by another classmate, Sam Godfrey (2025). His studio involvement extends into mixing, arranging, live sound production, and assisting with gear and session management, gaining experience through hands-on work in professional studios such as Greenbriar Studio under Producer and Engineer Jay Arrington. Evan has been cross-trained and studied under several respected mentors, including Dr. Johnny Culwell (Classical Guitar), Dr. Derick Cordoba (Electric Guitar), Tim Blackwell (Drums/Percussion).
