    This project is my diploma thesis: the design and development of the official Alumni web platform for the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia.

    The platform is built on WordPress and implements a full community and networking environment for graduates, staff, and employers. Users can register, create rich profiles (skills, graduation year, social links), join groups, post in an activity stream, send private messages, browse events, and view or publish job opportunities.

    From a technical perspective, I worked on both the front end and the back end:

    • WordPress (PHP, MySQL) as the CMS
    • Custom theme styling using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
    • BuddyPress & Youzify for community features and user profiles
    • The Events Calendar and a custom job board page for events and vacancies
    • Custom PHP/JS snippets (via WPCode) to extend functionality
    • Performance, security and GDPR setup (caching, security plugins, cookie/GDPR management)
    • Responsive UI, dark mode, accessibility tools and multilingual support (GTranslate)

    The result is a production-ready, extensible platform that centralizes alumni networking, news, events, and career opportunities for the department.
