Dear Twine, I am writing to apply for a Motion Designer position (Permanent or Freelance) with your company. I am a Canadian Graphic / Motion Designer and Video Editor with a particularly strong interest in sports, news, film, and social media content. I am currently working for the Florida Panthers as a Senior Motion Designer, a position I’ve held for the past two years, via a work visa sponsored by the Panthers. I make a wide range of videos for the Florida Panthers home games, which are displayed on the Jumbotron, LED Rings, and Ice Projector. Working for the Panthers has been a fantastic experience (though as a Canadian, the Panthers’ success has of course been bittersweet for me). However, I have now decided it is time for me to return to Canada. Your position is very attractive, and I would be delighted to join your team. Prior to the Panthers, I worked for the Winnipeg Jets as a Motion Designer & Video Producer, a position I held from 2021–2023. I was also employed as a freelancer for CBC Sports during the summer of 2021 where I made graphics for the 2021 summer Olympics, as well as Sportsnet from January 2020 until the pandemic disrupted operations, where I worked predominantly as a designer for Sportsnet Central. Prior to coming to Sportsnet, I held an internship with the Mississauga Steelheads Hockey Club (4 months, Summer 2019), doing both graphic design and video editing. I was given full responsibility to design and create an extensive suite of graphics for social media marketing and in-game use on the arena’s scoreboard. I also created videos to promote the franchise’s players going to the NHL draft and even designed the custom wrap for the team bus. I was also employed as a full-time freelancer by Queen’s University in Kingston in the Multi-Media department of the Faculty of Arts and Science during the summer of 2020. I have a full decade of experience working in Digital Motion Graphics, VFX and Video/Audio production and editing in educational, extracurricular, and professional settings. I completed my degree with high distinction in Media Production at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in 2021. I also hold a diploma (with distinction) in Music and Digital Media from St. Lawrence College, Kingston. Below are links to my current portfolios on Vimeo: Florida Panthers: _Website not available.
