I'm an illustrator and designer from the greater DC area. I started as a fine artist with a love of drawing, print media and painting, but have discovered the fun of translating these mediums into digital design, vector art & illustration. I have experience with a wide variety of materials and styles, and love the process of researching style and carrying that through the design process. Having traveled significantly in my childhood and for work, I have a specific interest and eye for ethnic design, research & production. My husband, Sam Hakes, and I work as a team combining our skills to not only create still images, but to animate, film and tell stories. I started in education, working as an art teacher for 3 years before directing a non-profit that developed programs and services for intercultural dialogue, service and exchange. This role included a tremendous amount of strategy, visioning, marketing and communication. I transitioned to working for an international organization that produces films. On this team I have worked as the team graphic designer, which included web design, print design, logo design, branding and movie poster design.
