Ilan Chouraki (pronounced Shuraki) Composer and Music Producer, Franco-Israeli Since the age of 20, I have been a professional musician and composer, splitting my time between live stages, jazz clubs, and recording studios. In the 1990s, in France, I established my first digital recording studio. Renowned French singers performed my compositions. Drawing inspiration from classical composers, particularly those of the modern era, I have also worked across diverse genres, including jazz, bossa nova, fusion, rock, and electro, embracing a wide range of musical styles. Since 2002, I have been based in Israel, where I set up my production unit. I have orchestrated live performances for symphony orchestras, and classical music performers have recorded my chamber music compositions on albums. Performers played these compositions in the USA, Great Britain, Spain, Germany, Italy, and Greece. Musicians also performed my chamber music ensemble arrangements worldwide, including in China and Japan. Currently, I am producing the soundtrack for a feature film titled Heartbreak, directed by Jessica Vaturi.

paper Composing the Soundtrack for a Feature Film: Heartbreak

As the composer for Heartbreak, an art-house film directed by Jessica Vaturi, I crafted a poignant soundtrack that complements its unique blend of narrative and documentary elements. Shot in black and white, the film features mimes and dancers, weaving a powerful artistic portrayal of the events of October 7 in Israel. Interspersed with interviews of pogrom victims, the film balances raw emotion with evocative visuals. My compositions, blending classical and contemporary influences, underscore the film’s emotional depth, enhancing both its poetic performances and its sobering documentary segments.
