    A really cool game project I made with some friends from the previous Project Somn and other projects. You play as a bloodmage, when you hit enemies with your sword blood splatters on the ground, this is what you use to fuel your spells. Some spells target blood already on the ground while others require you to pick it up first.

    Most of my work here has been with player animation. Player character design was intentionally kept SUPER simple as the character needed all animations to be done in 5 directions which takes longer than you would imagine. Which is a shame because I really liked some of the designs I made, but im glad I didn’t because its already been quite a lot of work.
    I learnt quite a lot about shaders in this project, which was really interesting! Learning new tools within art is something I always enjoy and it enabled me to create effects that can be used no matter how you build the level, which led to some pretty interesting level designs. The Blood river was one such shader, a real challenge trying to create something that looks like it flows, but doesn’t move in a praticualr direction so that you could build rivers going in all directions.
    The Blood Splatter was something I was especially proud of. Through some tricks with “order in layer” I made it possible for multiple blood splatters to land next to eachother and form one big puddle. The swirly pattern on the puddles was nice to highlight the magical aspects of the blood aswell as highlight gameplay importance.
    Other than that I made some tilemaps for water edges, ground tiles, mountains, random animals, marketing and pitch material for the game!
    Im not done with the project and we are looking to update the Itch demo as we develop more, so please look forward to this game becoming better and better!
