I'm James Duncan, a freelance video editor with a strong focus on music videos and general content. I bring a solid track record editing both my own projects and client work, including the award-winning short Golden Ties, where I led the compositing. I recently earned a Premiere Pro certification and I enjoy shaping pacing, transitions, and color grading to match the mood and beats of the music. I have for over 7 years now been working on my craft within premier pro and learning how to grow platforms such as Tik Tok, Youtube and more recently X (formally Twitter). With this in mind I have learned many unique tricks of the trade to create specific effects and transitions that are very difficult to create otherwise. Some examples of these include unique transitions and creating fine tuned zooms that feel natural. I thrive on planning and collaboration, delivering high-quality results on time while incorporating client feedback. My experience spans scripting, pacing, and a hands-on approach to communication with team members and clients. I also bring experience from retail and hospitality, helping me understand client needs and approach problems with empathy and clarity. As a final note I would like to refer to my experience within both the theoretical and the practical sectors with my major achievements being working on the award winning short film Golden Ties within which I was in charge of the compositing of the film; I have worked on my own and other’s projects for youtube videos as well as the theoretical knowledge gained from my certification.
