Composed in the spring of 2025, Unrequited was a piece written to encapsulate the feeling of something that is unreciprocated. The orchestration includes only a solo piano to match this unique feeling. The piece begins with fast rhythms. Softer dynamics and erratic harmony. As it progresses, it becomes more settled, slower, and more melodic, allowing it to take shape. At the end of the piece, all the melodic ideas that have been introduced or restated are harmonized and finished to leave a lasting impression on the listener.
