patchandbagel x Soodo

This online store did embarassingly well…
When I first started Patch&Bagel, a brand owned under Soodo, the idea was to sell playful gifts and decor to the US and European markets.
Using my expertise in Shopify development, I designed a store that showcased cute night lamps and animal-themed products, which we thought would become our bestsellers.
Along the way, at customers’ requests, we added customizable gift options. What started as 1-2 orders per week gradually grew into bulk orders for these customizable gifts.
We began receiving procurement requests from corporate clients, government agencies, and military organizations…
Patch&Bagel had more sales from 1 product than 20+ of the original catalog. This (welcomed) problem had however complicated our brand identity. So, I thought—okay, maybe it’s time to branch out as a new & separate brand.
Less than a year ago, I launched a subsidiary brand on Shopee Singapore—something I had avoided for the longest time due to the incredibly fierce eCommerce market and race-to-the-bottom pricing. Today, it boasts perfect 5-star ratings and plenty of happy customers.
While this was not an overnight success, what makes this story special is that Patch&Bagel is my own & true testament on how online businesses are built on a good amount of determination, store setup and months of trial and error.
80% of the battle is won as long as you don’t quit :)
