Hello! I’m Jiayu Zheng, a composer, sound designer, music producer, and music technology professional with experience in composition, music production, mixing, audio editing, sound design, and live production. My musical foundation comes from formal classical training, music theory, composition, and music history, along with experience in guzheng and Chinese musical styles. This background has shaped the way I think about melody, texture, timbre, structure, and emotional expression. At the same time, my work in music technology has allowed me to explore more experimental approaches to sound, including spatial audio, code-based composition, electronic instruments, interactive systems, and experimental performance formats. I work across both the creative and technical sides of audio. My experience includes composing, producing, recording, editing, mixing, and preparing audio for performance or release. I am comfortable working with Logic Pro, Pro Tools, and Reaper, and I also have experience with tools such as Max/MSP, SuperCollider, modular synthesis, and other creative audio systems. I enjoy shaping sound in a way that supports the emotional direction and storytelling of a project, while still maintaining clarity, balance, and technical quality. I have led and produced several original creative projects, including a surround sound solo concert, a senior recital, and an original album release. Across these projects, I managed the full process from concept, composition, production, and audio preparation to scheduling, venue coordination, documentation, release planning, and final delivery. I also have experience supporting concert operations, live sound, stage setup, studio setup, signal flow, sound checks, and real-time troubleshooting. As a collaborator, I care about both the artistic vision and the practical details needed to bring a project to completion. I enjoy working on music that has emotional depth, atmosphere, and a clear story behind it. My goal is to help artists shape their sound in a way that feels polished, expressive, authentic, and true to the project’s identity.
