    A young couple ends their date and moves to say goodbye, but the guy goes in for a hug while the girl offers a handshake, freezing mid-gesture awkwardly. After a few silent seconds, they both burst into laughter, realising it’s not that deep. They choose to embrace the fumble— literally —by hugging and shaking hands, ending the moment with genuine smiles. I took on the role of director for a short narrative film along with a 10-person production team. My primary responsibility was shaping the overall creative vision, which included guiding the development of the script, refining the storyline, reviewing storyboards, and ensuring a cohesive visual style throughout the project. During pre-production, I collaborated closely with team members to organise logistics, plan scene blocking, and run a test shoot to identify areas for improvement. During production, I led the production process by directing both cast and crew, working alongside departments such as camera and sound to bring each scene to life. I had to think quickly and adapt when unexpected technical issues arose, ensuring that the quality of performances and visuals remained consistent. In post-production, I reviewed footage with the team and contributed to enhancing the final cut through motion graphics, captions, and visual refinements to improve storytelling flow and pacing. This experience allowed me to develop strong leadership and communication skills, while also sharpening my ability to solve problems creatively. It marked my first opportunity to direct a full-scale production within a collaborative team environment!
