Mya Kaplan is a writer, director and cinematographer based in Paris. Her graduation film, 'Night Visit' (2021), made at the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television of Tel-Aviv University, was selected for the Cinéfondation competition at the Cannes Film Festival and named a Vimeo Staff Pick. During her studies, Mya directed two short documentaries—one in China and the other in Poland and co-wrote and co-directed the short fiction 'Sisters Playing Soccer in the Hood'. In 2022-2023, she participated in the Director’s Factory, an international residency by Cannes' Directors’ Fortnight, where she co-wrote and co-directed in Portugal 'Thorn', a short fiction which screened later that year in Cannes, Sarajevo, Mostra São Paulo, and more. Mya served as cinematographer on six fiction shorts that were selected for numerous International festivals including Cannes, Palm Springs ShortFest and Tallinn Black Nights (PÖFF).
