Children’s Book Illustration & Layout Case Study (“The Pond”)

The project required a clean, minimalist vector-style illustration and layout design for a children’s picture book page. The goal was to bring a gentle nighttime scene to life featuring a curious little fox named Fen discovering glowing lights by a pond, paired with rhythmic rhyming text.

Vector Art & Character Design: Created a charming, simplified flat-vector style featuring Fen the fox, a quiet nighttime pond, glowing fireflies, and subtle star reflections.

Layout & Typography: Structured a clean split-composition layout with the art cleanly separated from the text block at the bottom. Used warm, legible typography for the header (“The Pond”) and verse to ensure easy reading for children.

Color & Mood: Balanced deep night blues and greens with soft glowing accents to evoke a peaceful, bedtime-story atmosphere.

A polished, visually balanced storybook page that combines minimalist vector illustration with clean typesetting. The design effectively captures the quiet wonder of the scene, making it engaging and easy for young readers to follow.
