This short film explores the confusion and emotions that come with being a child born from diaspora. When you are made of two worlds, where do you belong?
Wrapped in the word pananabik, a Filipino term that embodies yearning and longing, Katherine takes us around her Lola’s (grandmother’s) village in the Philippines.
Caught between two cultures and held by only one body, she questions why belonging must come with the ache of losing one or the other. She speaks about how this feeling of pananabik came to her through experiencing the province and, eventually, having to leave it.
This film not only encompasses grief but also the resurrection of what it means to feel.
