I have been writing since I was tall enough to hit the keys on a manual typewriter. I have written web copy, blog posts, essays, academic journal entries, and more. The poem, "Religion" won the Illiad Press Grand Prize Literary Award in the winter of 2003. I published three novellas with JMS Books, LLC, and recently self-republished the last of those, "Waiting for Liz" through Amazon KDP under the psuedonym Angela Kelly. The S & S Bar and Grill was my first nonfiction self-published novel. My current WIP is titled Songbird, and she hopes to have it under agent review in 2026. I was employed in the pre-press publishing production industry for over a decade as a Book Designer and Senior Project Lead, and I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Illinois. Later, I returned to the University and received a Master of Science degree in Library & Information Science. In my early years of pre-teen angst, I spent much of my time writing what I now jokingly refer to as my “Die, Love, Die!” poetry. Influenced by the iconic bodies of work of Virginia Woolf and Sylvia Plath, the melancholy bled through all of my early writing, as I struggled to find a sense of self in an earlier, anti-LGBTQ+ era. Eventually my poetic works evolved into a richer, more diverse style. Today, I generate my income creating website copy, blog posts, obituary writing, and winning the ocassional fiction contest. I am a versatile writer who can adapt to a company or person's voice and style. Writing is my lifeblood.
