My experience with Create More (illustration position with Sheridan College) helped develop and reinforce my ability to create and execute a finished product from scratch, teamwork and brainstorm to create new ideas and iron out any issues, changes, and glitches that the team comes across, keep a clean work environment physically and digitally to ensure documents, plans, spreadsheets and timetables are easily accessible to the team and for ease of use in the future once my contract is complete. Due to the nature of the my job being contracted, I ensured work was efficient and reached landmarks to allow time for any final changes and touchups before the due date. While much of the work is done individually, it was important to keep in touch by creating weekly meetings to ask any question, clarify responsibilities, and add new ideas as attention to detail was crucial when working with statistics and fact based evidence Being in Creative Writing & Publishing at Sheridan College has taught me many and allowed me to practice many managerial positions through creating mock publishing companies, projects in which we do the role of different positions in a publishing industry, and learn how to work in a formal work environment. Being a student has helped develop my ability to be self-disciplined as I submit projects and schedule out my time effetely. The program has provided me with experience with all levels of editing (substantive editing, line editing, and copy editing) and writing in creative, professional, and writing non-fiction regions. Working at Bouclair (Home décor) and City of Barrie Day Camp helped with my ability to interact with the public in a friendly, thoughtful, and helpful manner. With my time working at day camp I learned skills to be on my toes for any difficult or dangerous situation to arise, weather that be a change in weather needing to adapt and create new activities for the campers or avoiding any dangerous situation before they arise.
