I am a freelance singer, musician, writer and artist, and also a part-time sociologist and educator. For almost four decades, I have performed music as a vocalist and bassist in a variety of bands, including full-time for two years in the Canary Islands during the mid-nineties. I continue to perform regularly with my current band, and have been asked to contribute to other musical projects in various genres, both as a singer and as a bass player. Whilst the majority of my vocal publication has been through academic work: guest appearances on podcasts and as a speaker at public conferences, both online and in person, I have recorded backing vocals on two albums, bass guitar on another and keyboards on one more, together with album artwork. Both my singing and speaking voices have been praised for their tone, flexibility and originality of sound and for speaking roles, my central Scottish accent is usually considered favourably and trustworthy.
