uniE608 "Mandy and the Jam Fam" pitch reel
I've been itching to share this one for over a year now and just got the green light! This is a pitch reel for Mandy and the Jam Fam, a concept for an educational kids' show focusing on music and different types of instruments. Another artist had started on the character designs but had to drop out from the project, so I picked up where they left off and finalized the characters, as well as the layouts (eagle-eyed viewers will notice the musical notation incorporated into the backgrounds! Bass clefs were especially handy for organic forms such as clouds and treetops). I absolutely adore this idea and hope it comes to full fruition in the future! video animator showpitch animation 2Danimation riggedanimation
    uniE608 GRO Marketing animations
A compilation of scenes I animated for GRO, a marketing company based in the UK. They tasked me with revamping the previous video on their website, just to give it a bit more character and clarity. The color choices were already pretty solid; I just redesigned the characters and backgrounds and injected some pizazz into the animation. I also animated a loop of the hopping "G" mascot, as well as cars driving on a country road for animated gifs to place between videos on the site. This project is years old and there are things I'd handle differently if I got the same assignment today, but overall I think it's a great example of taking existing animation to the next level. Thanks for watching! video animator advert explainervideo
    uniE621 Rocto's Escape
An illustration for a contest, featuring a space pirate named Rocto. I didn't place, but I'm proud of the character design work I did, balancing colors and shapes and using octopi and Mantis Shrimps for reference. Over time I've learned real life is stranger than fiction, and it helps keep your designs from looking lazy and stale. illustrator characterdesign scifi sciencefiction alien space pirate octopus
    uniE608 How long it takes
Never back-sass the dictator of a planet until he's WELL out of earshot. Here's a time-lapse of a clip I animated for the purpose of showing potential clients (and aspiring animators) just how much work goes into the process. Of course these numbers won't hold true in all cases, but this felt like a concrete way to get across the idea that animation is indeed a full-time job. Don't take it for granted, people. uniE608 2019 Character Animation Reel
A compilation of dialogue scenes I animated from late 2018 through 2019. They're all from mass collaborations as I haven't worked on any meaty, emotional speaking parts for clients yet. We'll see what the coming year brings! Also on Youtube: https://youtu.be/1NH3FD9EVXg video animator 2danimation reel characteranimation
uniE608 My Hero My Life intro
Here's this video opening I animated for the Youtube channel My Hero, My Life! This is the animator's cut, with temp sound effects and no music. Animating an action scene with a shifting perspective was a challenge, especially with such detailed character designs. I realize the action's a bit slow, but overall it was a solid first attempt at something like this. I'm sure I'll animate more fight scenes in the future, and improve with every one! video animator youtube opening intro superhero animation 2Danimation
    uniE608 Zoe the Courageous
Thirteen-year-old Zoe meets monsters on the beach- and then things get REALLY weird. This was a commission for Awesome Perfectly Me Girls, a series of stories featuring different characters with different "superpowers" (courage, intelligence, compassion, etc.) that show girls how to be confident in themselves and their talents, which I can totally get behind. :) Check out the website (including a narrated version of this video) here! http://www.awesomepmgirls.com/ I'll be the first to admit I'm much more at home with hand-drawn animation than with rigged animation. If I had to do this again, I'd pay more attention to easing and get more snap in some spots so the motion looks more natural. But overall, this was a great learning experience, and I'm glad to have contributed to a worthy cause! uniE608 All Dogs Reanimated Scene 7
Here's a process compilation of the scene I completed for the All Dogs Reanimated project on Youtube! I had a blast re-imagining All Dogs go to Heaven in my own style, as well as working with so many kind and talented animators! uniE608 Room Dividers Now
This is one of several scenes I've animated for Room Dividers Now, a company that provides customers with specialized curtains to split up their living space. I designed the roommate characters and animated them over a 3D background (which was already animated) to show the product in action. uniE621 Holly Social animations
See the gifs here: https://www.behance.net/gallery/60478149/Holly-Social-animations This is a set of animations I created for Holly Social (posted with permission). The first is the squirrel mascot jumping into and out of the logo, the second is a colored and shaded run cycle to be used on the site (originally on a transparent background), and the third was meant to run across the screen and stop in place. Awesome client; very patient and polite, providing helpful feedback all the way through the process! animator branding gif squirrel cycle animal
    uniE621 Stylin' 2017
This was a challenge for myself to see how accurately I could replicate other artists' styles with one of my own characters. It's a valuable exercise for character designers, as we need the observation skills to match a client's preferred style, or the style of any collaborative projects we're working on (like a show or movie). See how many you can identify! illustrator characterdesign
    uniE621 E.O.P.E. V2
(E.O.P.E. standing for "Empress of Planet Earth", similar to POTUS for the US president.) Here's a re-work of a character portrait I painted last year. Figuring out how fictional characters would look in real life (minus live-action movie equivalents to reference) is a tricky business. While the original had subtlety going for it, anatomy is tighter and overall contrast is bolder in this version. It seems I'll need to strike a balance between the two in order to be fully satisfied with my realistic work, but I'm happy with how this turned out on its own.
