Lainie Chait is a storyteller, performer and eclectic creative who’s slightly obsessed with turning life’s chaos into something funny, honest and worth talking about. She’s performed stand-up comedy in many bars in Melbourne, including at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and wrote and self-published a memoir, Electro Girl, which she then turned into a one-woman theatre show. The show, complete with an ambitious (and slightly unhinged) attempt at puppetry, featuring her brain as a Scottish-accented character, played to sold-out audiences at the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2019. Her curiosity about people and how they navigate life’s curveballs led her to create, produce and host the podcast Love Your Diagnosis, diving into real health journeys, both inside and outside the conventional system. That podcast evolved into a weekly radio show, In the Driver’s Seat, on BayFM in Byron Bay, where she continues to have the kinds of conversations most people avoid, but probably shouldn’t. Right now, she’s channelling all of this into television writing, developing original work that blends humour, vulnerability and a slightly rebellious take on what it means to be human. Somewhere in between all that, she’s also loves to DJ, Lainie Godiva is the name she plays under and is known for her eclectic sets that get people out of their heads and deeply feeling moving on the dance floor. At the heart of it all, Lainie is here to connect, entertain, and remind people they’re not alone in figuring it all out, sometimes very clumsily.
