As a Science Communicator having recently completed a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Marine Biology) with Distinction, I am motivated by roles that combine conservation impact, strategic communication, and the challenge of making science genuinely interesting to public audiences. My approach to translating science into meaningful and accessible content starts with finding the emotional core of the story: what makes this species, habitat, or ecosystem matter to someone who has never thought about it before? I have diverse experience in delivering communications that strengthen scientific organisations, support fundraising outcomes, and translate conservation work into accessible and engaging content. I am wrapping up my role as Social Media Manager and marine technician for The Institute for Marine Research in the Philippines. I was responsible for maintaining a social media presence and grew the Instagram from 16k to 23k followers. My main focus, through the social media posts, was translating their scientific research documents into understandable snippets of information for public audiences. In my 2 year long role as Visual Media Coordinator for non-profit organisation The FINstitute, I not only produced content for social media. I also managed the website, created blog posts, sent out a weekly newsletter, and used Later as a scheduling tool. I recently completed remote freelance contract roles for the Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station at Oregon State University, James Cook University marketing, and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Marine Science (ATSIMS) Program. I have created a logo using Adobe Illustrator, used ProCreate and Canva to produce infographics, and made promotional videos using Adobe Premiere Pro. While my research background is in marine biology, my digital design skillset is diverse and transferrable, and at the end of the day my passion is to do justice to the incredible science that already exists out there.
