Born in Notre-Dame-du-Portage in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Québec, Laurence Messier-Moreau is a photographer, videographer, and film colorist whose work explores the relationship between urban environments, nature, and human presence. She holds a BFA in Photography from Concordia University in Montreal and a Master’s degree in Anthropology from the Université de Montréal. Her work has been exhibited at L’Envers Gallery, DARE-DARE Centre de diffusion d’art de Montréal, as well as the FOFA Gallery and VAV Gallery. During her graduate studies, she produced several documentary projects, including the social documentary Nord pour tous, which was presented at academic conferences at the University of Ottawa and the Université de Montréal. Her practice is deeply rooted in collaboration and co-creation. She has worked closely with cultural and community organizations on artistic and documentary projects developed with marginalized communities, including youth in youth protection centers. These collaborations include projects with L’Accueil Bonneau, La Maison du Père, La Maisonnée, the Centre jeunesse de Montréal, and Paroles d’excluEs. Alongside her artistic practice, Laurence works professionally in commercial photography for local brands, producing food, product, portrait, and event photography. She also works as a videographer and video editor, handling both image and sound, and specializes in film and video post-production, including color grading and color correction.
