    'Lucy Saves The Bay' A picture book proposal
    I recently completed an author-illustrated book proposal through a course by InkyGoodness ‘The Children’s Illustrators Playbook’ In the duration of the course we were coached, guided and led to create a cohesive and strong picture book proposal, where the manuscript and illustrations were completed in entirety by ourselves. For this project, I used a blend of traditional media and digital illustrations, such as watercolour, pan pastel, pencil and ink, as well as bringing and enhancing the design together in procreate and Adobe photoshop. I completed this project to strengthen my narrative and manuscript skills. Skills I have gained from this course: A strong insight into traditional publishing methods, including what publishers are looking for and best practice Further development into a cohesive style and how this develops in a picture book Strengthening storyboard thumbnails, page turns, story beats and creating an engaging book. This course was based on Children’s picture books, and was focused around how to create a proposal, not art techniques.
