I am Martin Pacheco, a passionate film composer, sound designer, and guitarist focused on audiovisual media. SPRING is an animated fantasy project created as part of my graduation thesis at USFQ. Since the film contains no dialogue or narration, the music plays a central role in the storytelling, closely following the action and emotions on screen. I used extensive Mickey Mousing techniques to synchronize the score with character movements and visual events, creating a lively and expressive connection between music and animation. Inspired by the classic Disney sound, I chose a traditional orchestral palette with colorful melodies and rich harmonies to bring the fantasy world to life. The goal was to create a magical and engaging score that became an essential part of the narrative.
YIMBY Film Festival 2025 was a project created to accompany the energy and storytelling of the festival’s promotional trailer. My goal was to compose music that moved naturally with the action on screen while maintaining a warm, family-oriented atmosphere that reflected the spirit of YIMBY—Yes In My Back Yard. The festival celebrates the adventures, memories, and films created by families and their pets in Los Alamos, giving community members a platform to share their stories. Through organic textures, uplifting harmonies, and subtle musical development, I aimed to support the visuals and reinforce the sense of connection, exploration, and community. The proceeds from the event contributed to the creation of a bike park in New Mexico, making this project especially meaningful as both a creative and community-driven initiative.
OCEAN is a project created as part of my graduation thesis at USFQ and the first work I released on Spotify. Through immersive music, sound design, extensive layering, and subtle sonic details, I sought to recreate the feeling of being underwater, allowing the audience to experience the vastness, mystery, and tranquility of the ocean while observing its imagery. The music was intentionally designed not to compete with the narrator for attention, but rather to support and enhance the story being told, reinforcing its emotions and atmosphere. Every texture and sound was carefully crafted to create a cohesive and immersive listening experience that serves the narrative.
