Hi, I’m Marika Schanz—an independent game composer and performer based in Germany. I’ve been writing original music for video games for over six years, with 300+ released tracks across indie and larger productions. My sound is shaped by a wide stylistic range, from Nordic and medieval fantasy to dark ambient and Asian-inspired soundscapes, and I’m especially proud that I record key elements with real, live instruments rather than relying only on samples. Before focusing fully on composition, I spent eight years as a 3D environment artist in AAA production at studios like Ubisoft Berlin, Massive Entertainment, and Crytek. That experience helps me understand production workflows and team collaboration from the other side, and it also led to early work on adaptive music systems (like day/night cycles and combat transitions). On projects, I love building music that feels organic and responsive—whether it’s sparse acoustic textures, live guitars, or atmospheric main-menu themes—while delivering high-quality, game-ready demos.
