A shared digital room between Copenhagen and Japan: virtual design testing across two continents

A Copenhagen design studio developing products with Japanese manufacturers. The design happens in Denmark. The craft and production happen in Japan. Between them sit thousands of kilometres, a time difference that leaves almost no shared working hours, and a review process that depended on shipping physical samples back and forth.

Every prototype round meant weeks of freight before anyone could react to it. And when the conversation happened, each side was describing an object the other could not see. Photographs flatten proportion. Words fail on finish and weight.

We built the room they were missing.

A virtual space where both sides stand in front of the same object, at true scale, under the same controlled lighting, from either country. Variations sit side by side for direct comparison. Materials and finishes are tested visually before anything is made. Design discussion happens against a shared reference instead of against two different mental images.

The commercial effect is fewer prototype rounds, faster decisions, and tooling that happens once on a design already agreed by both sides. The space is not a one-off deliverable. It evolves with the product line and stays as permanent design infrastructure.

    Walk-test of the environment:

    What we handled

Design and build of the virtual review environment
    Interior design of the space
True-scale product presentation and side-by-side comparison systems
Material and finish testing under controlled lighting
Real-time walkthrough for remote collaborative review

A digital village for modular housing, six years of collaboration

Njordrum builds modular residential units. The problem: how do you let a client understand what is possible without building physical mockups of every configuration?

We started where the design does, in the spatial conversations. Layout logic, module combinations, how units read as homes rather than boxes. That design support ran alongside the visual work rather than after it.

The output became a digital village. Every Njordrum module exists in context, on a site, as a neighbourhood. Clients walk the whole development, enter every interior, and change facades and materials interactively to see how one decision affects the whole.

It is not a presentation. It is a self-guided tool. Sales teams run meetings from it, clients return to it at home, and developers test site layouts before committing to a configuration. The same environment that validates the design closes the sale.

    What we handled

Design support and spatial development across the module range
    Full interior and exterior visualisation
    Interactive facade and material configurator
    Real-time walkthrough environment
Visual storytelling across the product family

Result: six years of continuous collaboration and a showroom that works 24/7. Shorter sales cycles, because buyers explore independently before they ever sit down with a salesperson.

Muun Sleep: ultra-realistic product visualisation and a virtual photo studio built in Unreal Engine

Muun Sleep needed product imagery for mattresses and pillows without a physical photoshoot.

Soft goods are the hard case in product visualisation. Fabric weave, foam compression under load, stitch detail and the way light scatters through textile all have to be right, or the product reads as fake immediately. We modelled the range at high fidelity so it holds up at full resolution.

Then we built the studio itself. A complete virtual space in Unreal Engine, interior designed from scratch, and used it as a real set: virtual photography and videography with the same camera, lighting and framing decisions a physical shoot requires.

The commercial effect: unlimited variations of product, colour, styling and setting, produced without studio hire, and no reshoot when the range changes.

    What we handled

High fidelity product modelling of mattresses and pillows
    Material and textile development
Interior design of the virtual environment
    Unreal Engine real-time environment build
    Virtual photography and videography
    Design support

Live 3D review: a coordination error caught weeks before it reached site

On complex projects, small deviations hide inside thousands of drawings. Working from a live 3D model with the architect and developer in the same room, a rotation issue surfaced while it was still a five minute fix, weeks before it would have become a construction problem.

This is visualisation used as a working tool, not decoration. Reading drawings the way a building constructor does is what makes it possible.

    What we handled

Live 3D model for design review
    Spatial flow and coordination checking
    Clash detection support

21Ø Copenhagen: 80% pre-leased before the façade was finished

A residential project in Copenhagen that needed buyers committing while the building was still a construction site.

We delivered the full pre-sale visual package: photo-real stills, an interactive virtual tour, and the marketing materials the sales team worked from.

The result: 80% pre-leased before the façade was complete.

    What we handled

    Interior and exterior visualization

Fiskbæk Enge: 96 homes placed on the real site before construction

96 homes in Malling, Denmark, visualised on the actual site using mixed reality so buyers could stand in the landscape and see the neighbourhood that did not exist yet.

Produced as a single sales package from one site visit: film, stills, and the material the developer needed to build buyer confidence at launch.

    What we handled

    Mixed reality site placement
    Film production
    Stills for sales and marketing
