I’m a curious and driven professional with a background that spans software development, data science, and environmental toxicology. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I’ve consistently challenged myself and adapted to new environments, cultures, and disciplines.
My career in programming began after my undergraduate studies, where I completed two complementary majors. The first year started by building a website for KiteAcademy, then took on a junior industrial programmer for Andros on a temporary contract. This was a very stressful time as not only did I have to learn a new profession for which I had little formal education, it was in a language I had not spoken with regularity since childhood, and in a culture I was foreign to. I was able to exceed expectations and was offered a full-time contract, and in a year and a half, I was promoted to a team leader for industrial IT. I was tasked with the development of several projects, along with deployment and training in multiple countries.
After two years in that role, I took a year to travel through Central America, volunteering with NGOs, exploring new cultures, and gaining valuable life experience.
Relocating to Australia, I self-studied while working various jobs and ultimately pursued a Master’s in Data Science as a field of great interest for me. During my studies, I maintained excellent grades while working as a tutor and taking challenging classes, including Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Statistical Learning, Operations Research, Advanced Data Analytics, and Advanced Database Systems.
I was then offered a PhD in Environmental Toxicology at the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences (QAEHS) with a mixed advisory team of the Mathematics department at the University of Queensland (UQ), Analytical Chemists, and Toxicologists at QAEHS. At QAEHS, I had the privilege not only of expanding my knowledge in programming, Data Science, and project management, but also of acquiring domain knowledge to produce multiple deliverables for QAEHS.
I’m now seeking an intellectually rewarding role that aligns with my objectives and offers a strong cultural fit.
