Hi, I’m Maya, a graphic designer and illustrator with a love for bringing ideas to life through visual storytelling. My long-time love of all things arts and crafts naturally led me into design, where I found I could use those same skills to communicate ideas in creative and practical ways. Illustration is my biggest passion, and I love weaving it into my work to elevate ideas and create stronger connections with audiences. I approach each project through research, exploring context and inspiration before developing ideas further. What excites me most about design is the opportunity to discover new inspirations, learn new skills, and find fresh ways to apply them. I draw influence from the world around me, from nature to museums, galleries, and the work of other creatives, past and present. Sustainability is an important consideration in my work, particularly in print design, where I think carefully about materials and production choices to create designs that are both impactful and environmentally conscious. Beyond design, my craft-based hobbies, including bookbinding, paper making, painting, and illustration, feed into my creative process and keep me connected to hands-on, traditional techniques that complement my digital practice. Above all, I aim to create work that connects with people: designs that are visually engaging, thoughtfully crafted, and meaningful.

uniE621 OASIS - Wellness Tea Branding and Packaging
The project’s objective was to create an original tea brand and design a cohesive packaging range reflecting its identity. This included developing the brand from scratch, creating a custom dieline, and applying the concept consistently across product variations. After completing packaging, the project extended to designing an advertisement for Coles magazine. It required balancing creative vision with practical needs, and producing designs that appeal to the target audience while standing out in a competitive retail environment. graphicdesigner branding designer branding packaging
uniE621 Why mental health should be a priority - Editorial Illustration
The objective of this project was to create an editorial illustration that communicates key messages through visual storytelling. The illustration was intended to support an editorial article by acting as a compelling visual entry point, using metaphor and symbolism to deepen the reader’s understanding of the topic. The aim was to convey complex emotional and mental themes through a single, impactful image. I chose to focus on the concept of introspection and the inner mind, visualised through a portrait with a symbolic depiction of a figure curled up inside the subject’s head. This metaphor represents internal thought, emotion, or struggle. The illustration was designed to capture the viewer’s attention while remaining sensitive to the tone and message of the accompanying article. The use of a limited, monochromatic palette reinforced the emotional tone and created visual cohesion. illustrator designer editorialillustration graphicdesigner digitalillustration
