I am Pedro Michel Díaz Deschapell’s born in 1993 in Havana, Cuba. From a very young age, I have been immersed in the world of art, training at the National Academy of Fine Arts "San Alejandro" and at the Higher Institute of Art (ISA), where I explored disciplines such as painting, collage, and set design. My work focuses on experimenting with techniques like cut-outs and the recontextualization of images, aiming to create new narratives that invite viewers to reflect and actively engage in their interpretation. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to participate in events such as the Havana Biennial and to exhibit my work in various galleries and cultural spaces, both within and outside Cuba. I have also worked as an art director in audiovisual projects at EICTV and have designed sets, posters, and decorations for theater productions and restaurants. As a professor at the National Academy of Fine Arts "San Alejandro," I share my knowledge and passion for art with new generations of creators. My artistic practice seeks to de-hierarchize images and blur the boundaries between art and the viewer, proposing a dialogue that transcends the visual to connect with the symbolic and narrative. Along this journey, I have been recognized with awards such as the Belkis Ayón Prize, and some of my works are part of permanent collections in Havana institutions.
